I haven't updated this in nine days, but then again, I haven't had a whole lot going on lately — until yesterday, at least. I have a new toy to play with — an external DVD burner made by HP. It is capable of recording in all of the various modes (+RW, -RW, +R, -R, and double-layer -R), and also has a feature called LightScribe which allows me to "burn" a label to the top side of the disc (on LightScribe-compatible media, of course). I've been starting to do some backup of my hard drive, and will work on that a bit more in the next day or so.

I also went to see an eye doctor for the first time in a year and a half; nothing is wrong, but I am running out of my current supply of contact lenses, and the bastards only give you prescriptions that are good for a year. (I cheated them out of an extra six months by using each pair of lenses longer than the recommended two weeks.) It turns out I'm slightly more "blind" in my left eye than I have been before; they decided to up my prescription by one-half unit of power for my left eye. My right-eye prescription, on the other hand, has remained unchanged.

I have a few other things I want to mention on here, but I don't have a ton of time available today. I suppose I'll try to come back in a few days.
