News and Notes

I had to completely re-format my Windows partition and reinstall Windows the other night. If you've never done that, you can't possibly realize just what a pain in the ass it is. I mean, hell, Linux is a lot easier to install and get going. Then again, a lot of my troubles with Windows reinstallation didn't come from the OS itself, but rather from the associated software stuff. I still have a couple of things left to reinstall, most notably Microsuck Office and Photoshop. (That's right, kiddlies, I will be unable to edit any of the graphics on my web pages in the near future.) At least Linux still works fine; the only effect that the whole ordeal had on Linux was that the master boot record was formatted by the Windows installer. That was only a 5-minute fix the next time I used Linux, though.

I may very easily not be returning here in the fall. My last update of this page on Thursday represented mere pessimism; well, now things are looking a bit more desperate. They wanted me to appear before the Scholastic Standing Committee tomorrow, but I am still nowhere near ready for my hearing. I still have a lot of evidence-gathering to complete, and some of that may not be finished until the middle of next week at the earliest. I hope the Committee will be reasonable, but I'm not betting on it.
