Calendar of Updates

I almost had to force myself to make this update. I've been busy with way too many things going on lately, including a new job which I started last Friday. Compounding the problem of a lack of time has been the fact that I've lost the passion I once had for keeping this section up-to-date. I used to think of writing my day's events as an important, even essential, part of the day; now I've become too apathetic about this entire site to care much. For example, Michigan's last hockey game was played last Saturday night, yet I still don't have the team stats updated. Maybe I'll get around to that later tonight.

Why the apathy, you might ask? Is it a question of totally mistrusting everybody on the Internet? The answer to that question would have to be a partial yes. While many of the people who frequently visit this site are my friends, there are a number of regular visitors who have proven themselves untrustworthy. This latter group includes my parents, who I know have this site's URL. (I'm sure my mother is still holding on to that infamous piece of mail that arrived here January 11.) As long as I'm under this roof, I'm under the constant threat of parental surveillance of this site and the repercussions involved in revealing the truth. A lot of the things my parents do, say, and act upon are completely wrong in a lot of cases — but to hear them tell it, they've never made one mistake in their lives, and everything is my fault.

On a positive note, I can say that I'm back to getting along with my parents — I've made just enough concessions to keep them marginally happy, in addition to finally securing employment last week — but I still don't trust them any farther than I can throw them. Quite frankly, I doubt I'll ever trust them again. My father sometimes asks why I "play so coy" when it comes to talking about my contact with the outside world; I think he needs a clue.

I'll talk a little bit about my new job, although after what Pat Cunningham did back in October, I'd probably better keep my mouth generally shut on the topic. I began working for Commuter Transportation Company, based in Dearborn Heights, MI, last Friday. This week, I've primarily driven the Joe Louis Arena parking garage shuttle routes, with some charter action yesterday. As the demand for charters heats up in a few weeks, I'll be driving those almost exclusively.

I have to report to work at 7:00 am tomorrow, so I'm going to end this update and get to bed.
